Huntington 4 Northallerton 8
Northallerton Town Women travelled to Huntington in the North Riding Women’s Premier Division.
Goals galore on a mild autumn afternoon, Huntington struck first, their first visit to the Town box, the initial shot cannoned off the crossbar and the Town defence were slow to react, a scrappy goal fired home from close range past the helpless Lydia Stephenson tending the goal. 1-0 down, 2 mins played.
Town kicked off and Hannah Bowe picked up the ball on the half way line, drove to the edge of the box going through the Huntington team with power and purpose, a low shot found its way into the bottom corner, 1-1 back level.
Huntington were behind for exactly 4 mins before regaining the lead, the Town midfield mis-read a bounce and a ball over the top found the speedy Huntington attacker who was deemed onside, a sublime finish from the edge of the box into the side netting, Town trailing 2-1.
It took Town twice as long to draw level, all of 2 mins this time. Hannah Bowe again, collected a throw in, a quick 1-2 with Beth Costick before driving to the edge of the box and firing a low shot into the opposite side from her first, 2-2, Town level again.
A manic end to end first 10 mins, the game now settled, and the crowd had to wait 10 mins for the next goal, Amy Ross the provided the assist for scorer Beth Costick, after a series of corners the keeper spilled the ball to Beth who set herself with the left and fired home with her right from 8 yards out, Town lead 3-2.
On 42 mins Hannah Bowe was first to a misplaced goal kick, a quick square ball to Jess Pattison who put a perfectly weighted pass back to Bowe on the edge of the 18 yard box for her to fire home her first half hat trick, 4-2 Town, starting to get it down and play football.
3 mins later just before half time, Hannah returned the favour and set up Jess Pattison again first to react to a goal kick, Bowe slipped the ball into Pattison who took a touch and lobbed the Huntington GK from the edge of the 18 yard box, 5-2 Town, Half Time.
Second half Town started brightly but it was Huntington who struck first, a FK wasn’t dealt with allowing a dangerous cross that was turned in with a clever back heel, Town’s lead reduced to 2 goals, 5-3.
It only took 60 seconds for Town to restore the 3 goal cushion, Emily Metcalfe picked up a ball just inside the Town half, slipped a short pass to Hannah Bowe who sent a great through ball for Beth Costick who took a touch and rifled in her second of the game, 6-3 Town.
5 minutes later Captain Abbey Walker scored the goal of the game with a long range free kick, the ball on the edge of the centre circle in the Huntington half was rocketed into the top corner, 7-3 Town in control and the points looking safe.
Huntington got another late on before Hannah Bowe bagged her fourth and Towns last 10 mins before time. A great counter finished off with a scrappy goal to end a great win, the Ladies came from a goal down, twice. Confidence growing and goals a plenty.
Managers Player of the Match is Hannah Bowe, another dominant display, far too hot to handle, one better than last week with 4 goals and 2 assists, outstanding. Hannah is sponsored by Brompton Juniors.
